Magazine Style Engagements

The following Engagement photographs, photographed right here in downtown Houston, were shot a few weeks ago right before it cold terribly cold. The first photo below was cropped in a square format because it reminds me of a cover for an Indie Artist music band magazine or CD cover. SXSW (South By Southwest) is coming up here very soon in Austin. They would be so jealous of our couple, Marie & Joshua, chillin out in Herman Park.

Well Jobs. Thanks for sharing it.January 10, 2012 – 6:49 am

2011 Photo of the Year

Each year there is a photograph that touches me deeply and deserves recognition. This year, our photo of the year is a photo journalistic style image captured at the end of the reception, featuring a couples’ last dance together before the end of the wedding. What your seeing here is real, raw, pure, emotion. Untainted love between a couple so in love that it gave me goose bumps and tears of joy while I was photographing them together. Photographs like this one that capture the essence of what a wedding truly is all about, makes my career as a wedding photographer all that much more worthwhile. Thank you Victoria & Phil for flying me all the way out to the East Coast, away from my comfort zone here in Houston, to be a part of your very special wedding day.

New Wedding Album – Philly Style

Our couple, Victoria and Phil, discovered Hoffland Studios through the Internet and flew us out to Philadelphia to photograph their wedding and be a part of their family for the day. We were very flattered that Victoria & Phil liked our work so much that they took the additional investments necessary to fly our crew to the East Coast for the weekend. It was a wonderful respite from all of the Houston heat and we were so honored to be a part of their special very wedding. We are so proud to present to you their wedding album through photographic illustrations of their beautiful wedding day.

Capturing the Essence of a Perfect Day

In today’s world of digital cameras, everyone’s a photographer. But few photographers can also be called artists. When it comes to documenting a bride’s special moments, it’s important to look for a studio that not only takes great pictures, but understands the craft behind creating beautiful and lasting images. Eric Hoffland of Hoffland Studios is one such visual magician.

With 15 years of experiences, Hoffland Studios is one of the most trusted names in Houston wedding photography. “We have experience with a capital E,” says Eric. “Experience makes the difference because there’s more to photography than just taking pictures. A good photographer knows where to be at the right time. They become a part of the family and understand each person’s personality so that everyone sees themselves in the final product.” A glance through Eric’s gallery reveals images that are warm, personal, and intimate, as if the subject is being observed by a family friend or relative.

Eric’s style of photography draws inspiration from many sources, but is primarily informed by the work of two 20th century photographers, Vivian Maier and Francesca Woodman. Both women are known for the innate feminine perspective of their work, so it’s no surprise that their artistry provides the foundation for a photographer who specializes in brides. Eric’s approach is simple: he lets the photographs compose themselves. “My work is merely a reflection of what the client is doing. I capture their pure essence, the emotional charge of the wedding. There’s no gray matter, no cheating in my work. If the bride is having the time of her life, the photographs will reflect that.”

Hoffland Studios offers packages for a wide range of budgets based on the amount of hours requested. In addition to photographing the wedding ceremony and reception, Hoffland Studios also offer packages that cover bridal and engagement shoots at the location of the client’s choosing. Portrait sessions can also be arranged before and after the wedding ceremony. The most requested service, however, just might just be the studio’s gorgeous, timeless wedding albums. “A wedding album is one of the most treasured heirlooms a person can have,” explains Eric. “It serves as an archive of one of the most special days in a marriage. Years from now, the couple can look back and reflect on the love they had for each other at that specific moment.”

While weddings create some of the most touching and memorable moments of a person’s life, they are also complex events that require the expertise of skilled professionals. Expert photographers are no exception. To make sure that your wedding is preserved for generations to come, a studio that can craft an artful album is highly recommended. As an expert in wedding photography, Hoffland Studios is the top choice for stunning, yet, naturalistic imagery.

Jackie + Greg – Butler’s Courtyard

We don’t have too many opportunities to photograph weddings at Butler’s Courtyard but they are all remarkable! Jackie + Greg were married at Butler’s Court yard the last Sunday in November. How refreshing to be photographing weddings in Houston during the Fall months. The highlight of my career is having the opportunity to document, through photography, two families coming together for the very first time. Every wedding takes on a personality all of its own. No two weddings are ever alike in any way. This is why it it so paramount to choose a seasoned wedding photographer to photograph your once-in-a-lifetime event! We never miss the important moments. Through the following illustrations of images I hope you can agree!

Marriott Waterway – The Woodlands

The Marriott Waterway provides greater wedding photographic opportunities and creativity at night than during the day, in my personal opinion. This photograph was taken upside down, leaning over the waterway with a long telephoto lens. My lighting assistant is off camera to the right holding a video light angled at our clients. A backlight, behind the groom, would have been a nice touch with this photograph by separating the groom’s jacket off the black background. Love this shot! I call it “Music of the Night.”
